On Saturday, May 9th, Mercer Street Friends Food Bank will get a special delivery of food to help feed the hungry in Mercer County, courtesy of the National Association of Letter Carriers and local residents.

Donating food is as easy as mailing a letter–and it doesn’t require a stamp. Place non-perishable food items in plastic or paper containers (no glass containers, please) in a sturdy bag next to your mailbox or the place where your mail is delivered and the letter carrier will pick it up. The following is a list of suggested non-perishable food items to donate: Canned tuna, chicken or salmon; Single-serving fruit cups; Soup; Microwaveable Meals; Peanut Butter; Jam or Jelly; and Oatmeal Packets.
