Mercer Street Friends

Welcome to Mercer Street Friends Youth Services

Youth and Family Counseling
Each year, Mercer Street Friends Counseling Services works with 120 young people, ages twelve to nineteen, and their families. Participants may be referred by the court system, community members, other agencies, or they may self-refer. Services and interventions are tailored to the needs of each particular young person and/or family and may include components such as anger management, family communication and relationship enhancement, parent education, parenting skills training, and drug and alcohol counseling. All of these services are designed to help the individual and/or family identify their strengths, challenges and resources in order to develop more effective means of meeting their needs.

Student Assistance Services
Mercer Street Friends Youth Services Counseling Program also partners with other agencies in order to provide Student Assistance Services. These are relationships in which therapists from Mercer Street Friends provide clinical services as a component of other programs that serve young people. If your agency or other community-based organization would like to partner with us to provide on-site clinical services for youth and families, please call Shannon Mason, director of the Mercer Street Friends Youth Services division at (609) 989-7618.

Mercer Street Friends also offers the Back on Track program for young people ranging in age from 9 to 17 and the Urban Gateway Enhancement Program for young people ranging in age from 14 to 19. We also offer GED tutoring through our Basic Skills and Literacy program for adults.

To volunteer, please call Phyllis Stoolmacher, volunteer coordinator, at (609) 406-0503. To contribute, click on Donate Now or Ways of Giving.
