Standing in Solidarity with Our Entire Community

Mercer Street Friends’ founding was based on the Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. As we face this moment of great unrest and uncertainty, we are clear that our work must remain focused on the power and urgency of social justice and service to our neighbors.

Mercer Street Friends mourns the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the many lives lost before them. We cry with those in anguish and we stand in solidarity with our entire community – each corner of Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey, and throughout the US –in traveling the road towards racial justice, peace, understanding and calm.

We are called to do good, to live justly, and to reach our hand to our neighbor in comfort and care. Mercer Street Friends is steadfast in our founding principles. We will, as we have done for over 60 years, support our community through peaceful distribution of food bags in Trenton, provide education for our children, offer resources to our parents and families, listen to the calls of those we serve, and respond with integrity and hearts full of compassion and longing for healing.
