Full plates and full hearts. Thank you!

This year, as in years past, parents and families who participate in the Mercer Street Friends Parent and Family Engagement programs received boxes filled with Thanksgiving meal sides and Shoprite Gift Cards, from stuffing and cranberry sauce to Turkeys purchased at Shop Rite, our neighbors’ tables had all the traditional holiday foods. With smiles on their faces, they expressed gratitude for the generosity of schools, religious institutions, and businesses for food drives and gift card collections directly benefiting those experiencing hunger in Trenton and Mercer County.

Karen Hoppock, Director of Parenting and Adult Services, said, “We can’t thank our community enough for providing gifts of food and financial support, as well as their personal time, to see to it that our neighbors in need receive a balanced and abundant meal for the Thanksgiving holiday. Our hearts are full knowing that our friends from near and far believe in the work of Mercer Street Friends and continue to join us in partnership in ensuring that we provide services that offer parents, students, and families the resources to address the trauma caused by poverty.”
