We believe in the power of people helping people.
Through our Community School and Preschool programs, Mercer Street Friends educators, site coordinators, and staff, take a holistic approach to addressing the needs of the “whole child,” and this means families too.
Our reading intervention, after-school enrichment, and Summer Bridge programs provide year-round educational and social and emotional learning for Community School students.
With our school-based food pantry and the extensive offering of additional services such as assistance with SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps), housing, immigration, legal, parenting, adult education, and mental health, we can support the needs of the families as well.
Every year, 90 children receive tuition-free academic instruction at Mercer Street Friends Preschool. As a part of our experiential learning model, students are learning by doing. Beyond the fundamentals, this hands-on approach encourages creativity, independent thinking and problem solving.
Our preschool families benefit from Mercer Street Friends’ programs including the Food Bank, Parenting and Adult Services and Community Schools, as well as an impressive six-week summer program – all free for preschool families.
Your gift helps young learners receive necessary educational and emotional support for a bright future ahead.
