Adult Education Program Celebrates Graduates

Congratulations to our graduates!

Mercer Street Friends Adult Education Program celebrated seven outstanding graduates! They didn’t let the challenges of remote learning, job changes, or the pandemic get in the way of them earning their diplomas. At their own pace, paired with an instructor or tutor, each student persevered to complete programs that follow New Jersey Common Core Standards or College and Career Readiness.

It was a heart-warming celebration where family, friends, and Mercer Street Friends staff gathered to welcome the graduates into the next phase of their lives. Michelle Obermeier, Senior Instructor, took a moment to have the graduates reflect on their educational journeys. Reminding them that “although there were bumps, dips, and dives along the road, the graduates all had the tenacity, focus, and guts to go out of their comfort zones to go for it and earn their diplomas.”

Gratitude was shared for the graduates’ hard work, the families that supported them, and the tutors that were instrumental during this process. Karen Hoppock, Director of Parent and Adult Services at Mercer Street Friends, thanked Michelle for her “inspiration, drive, and heart to partner with the students and bring them to where they are today.”

We are so proud of our graduates and look forward to seeing where the next part of their journey takes them.
