In the Community, For the Community

Bringing residents, partners, and resources together to build a stronger, healthier neighborhood, The 222 brings together the essentials that residents in a thriving community need: nutritious food, care and support, and opportunity and experience.

Nutritious Food

When individuals and families have enough nutritious food to eat, communities grow stronger. Our community marketplace offers a variety of healthy fresh and shelf-stable food for neighbors to choose from – all at no cost.

Care & Support

While resources for Trenton residents are available, accessing them can often be challenging. The 222 offers services that connect neighbors to the resources they need for stability and well-being.

Opportunity & Experience

Connection is often an undervalued aspect of any thriving community – when community members have a space that they can share with their neighbors to make choices and share their stories, they are empowered to change their futures.

At its core, The 222 is designed to answer a simple question: What would it look like if families could access the support they need, all in one place, right in their own community?

About The 222

For years, Trenton residents have faced persistent gaps in access to the critical resources they need to thrive. Nowhere is that need more evident than in the city’s West Ward, where access to fresh, affordable food and other essential resources has remained a longstanding challenge. It is also where Mercer Street Friends’ 222 North Hermitage Avenue building has stood as a trusted presence for years, answering the call to address food insecurity and connect neighbors with resources.
