Mercer Street Friends Preschool provides free, high-quality early childhood education to 90 children, ages 3-5, who qualify for the program as residents of Trenton. Our certified teachers deliver an innovative, tested and proven curriculum in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment.

The facility houses 6 classrooms; each classroom is designed around interest areas such as Library, Discovery, Music, Art, Dramatic Play, Computers.  Children receive nutritious meals and snacks.

The center is open from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm.

The Mercer Street Friends Preschool emphasizes cognitive, social, and emotional growth. In addition to building essential academic skills in reading and math, our curriculum emphasizes the development of “soft skills” that are crucial to achieving success in school and life, including persistence, self-control, curiosity, conscientiousness, and self-confidence.


As a special needs Department of Education school district, Trenton is mandated to provide early education to children ages 3 to 4 who live in the district.
