Summer Bridge Update – July 2026

School may be out, but the learning is just getting started!

Through Mercer Street Friends’ Summer Bridge program, part of our Community Schools Initiative, more than 300

students across six Community Schools and Mercer Street Friends Preschool are making the most of their summer by building academic skills, boosting confidence, and creating unforgettable memories!

Designed to prevent summer learning loss, Summer Bridge keeps students engaged through daily reading, math, and social-emotional learning. Hands-on lessons, collaborative projects, and creative enrichment activities help students stay on track and return to school ready to thrive.

But learning extends far beyond the classroom! This summer, students have harvested fresh produce at America’s Grow-a-Row, cheered on the Trenton Thunder, explored marine life at Adventure Aquarium, challenged themselves at the Museum of Illusions, and enjoyed adventures at iFLY, Urban Air, Diggerland, roller skating, bowling, and more!

Every experience helps students discover new interests, build friendships, and connect classroom learning to the world around them — all while keeping summer fun.

Take a look below at what our Community School students have been learning, exploring, and experiencing through the first half of summer!
