Tara Butler

Tara Butler began her Board service in 2021. A Trenton Native, Tara is a graduate of McCorristin Catholic High School and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law with a Minor in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice/Legal Studies, also from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Additionally, Tara holds many certifications and professional certificates including Advanced Cultural Competency Counseling from Villanova University, Youth Development and Justice from Rutgers University Office of Continuing Education and is a certified Myers Briggs Practitioner.

Tara serves as the Director of Community Engagement for the Smith Family Foundation NJ (SFF). SFF, a philanthropic private family foundation, provides scholarships, grant funding, and leadership development to small grassroots organizations and nonprofits in the City of Trenton. She formerly served as Director of Operations for A Better Way Inc., a non-profit organization that provides reentry programming, transitioning formally incarcerated men and women back into society and servicing at-risk youth. Tara holds memberships in various community organizations, including Order of Eastern Star and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Gamma Omicron Zeta Chapter Essex County New Jersey. She is also in the 2020-2021 Provisional class of Junior League of Greater Princeton and accepted to Lead NJ.
